The premise for the work, I am engaged with, is a subversion of minimal formalist sculptural language. Subversion occurs in the work through idiosyncratic research and work processes. Formalism is concerned with such notions as wholeness, distance, presence, reduction and purity, whilst I negate I also work with these concerns. The work unlike minimalist works, does make reference to things outside itself and freely utilizes other media. The core preoccupation is one concerned with the deadening effect that elevation to an art object, has on a physical entity.
